Dua Lipa to read from ‘The Details’ by Ia Genberg to promote Booker Prize

Dua Lipa is one of the six celebrities to read extracts from the International Booker Prize shortlist as part of a series of promotional films. The other readers are Eleanor Tomlinson, Davis Jonsson, Tobias Menzies, Anya Chalotra, and Antonia Thomas. Dua will read from Ia Genberg’s novel ‘The Details‘ (Wildfire Books), translated from Swedish by Kira Josefsson.

A short trailer is presented below. The new films will be available on the Booker Prizes website and social channels from 9am on Thursday 25th April. The International Booker Prize 2024 ceremony will be held at the Tate Modern in London on May 21st. [x]

“As someone who grew up speaking two languages, I know how inspiring it can be to have access to stories about other worlds. I’m fascinated by lives lived in other countries, whether it’s the imagined lives of the characters or the real lives of the authors. So translation is an art close to my heart – it makes that adventure possible for so many more of us. Translated fiction is a hand extended from one culture to another. It allows us to understand each other better, and to see the world in a new light.”
